Welcome to the Studio of Artist Mieke Baak in Gelderland (the Netherlands)

On this website, you’ll find a selection of my latest paintings and sculptures. I regularly add new pieces, so there’s always something fresh to discover.

My artistic journey began with painting, but in recent years I’ve also embraced creating bronze sculptures. Even as a child, I loved being creative — drawing and sculpting came naturally to me. Today, it’s become my profession. My visual sensitivity flows through my hands and senses, taking shape in the artworks you see here.

People who know my work often describe it as versatile and colorful. I recognize myself in that — I love working with color and find great inspiration in creating, combining, and blending hues. My paintings explore a wide range of themes. The style I choose always fits the subject I want to express.

In my collection, you’ll find both abstract pieces and figurative works, such as landscapes and floral paintings. In my gallery, for instance, a blooming forsythia might hang beside a woman giving birth — each telling its own story.

What continuously drives me is the search for the essence of existence. That is my source of inspiration. I see the human being as a small part of a much greater whole. That awareness keeps me humble — and that humility resonates throughout my art.
